Dr. Butler—though originally from Baltimore, Maryland—loves her adopted home in the Pacific Northwest.
After receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree at Hood College and her Doctor of Medical Dentistry from Tufts University, she continued her studies at a residency program at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan, which, among other things, specializes in developing and rehabilitating cleft palate infants. Dr. Butler completed her pediatric dentistry program by winning first place in the National Graduate Research Competition with her work with those children.
Afterwards, a large managed care group recruited Dr. Butler to Portland, where she lived and worked for eight years. In 1999, she adopted an eleven-month-old girl—now a teenager—and settled in Gresham, where she still lives with her daughter, Breck, and their two dogs, Graham and Hansel. Dr. Butler keeps herself busy even out of the office, with hobbies including quilting, traveling, and riding horses with her daughter.
